Goals for Zope3 SIG Meeting

Oct 29 is the first Zope3 SIG meeting.

  1. Get Zope 3 Ubuntu package up and running under the correct user account. Document any special problems in relation to this. UbuntuZope3 (This has been completed.)
  2. Go over the basics of the new ZMI for Zope 3. Follow tutorial in Zope 3 Developer's Guide. (completed)
  3. Go over the content in the Zope 3 Development book, and the content Jeff has added to the DFW Python wiki. I'm thinking this will be an overview in which we discuss the various pieces of the Zope framework and how they fit together. This should allow us to be clear on basic terms and concepts. (got started on this)
  4. Follow MessageBoard tutorial in Zope 3 Developer's Guide. (in progress)
  5. Attempt to implement a simple Zope 3 site that allows user logins and can carry persistent session data from one page to the next (not just carry it around in post variables).
  6. After getting a handle on how to structure a Zope 3 project, determine how a team can work on this.
  7. Learn how to use database adapters for PostgreSQL? or mySQL.

These steps will require multiple meetings, and some of this might get done between meetings. The idea of the meetings is to help stir up the energy to focus on the task, and to help each other with the learning.
